Description
Any ground meat that has less than 20% calories from fat works as a category 1 ground meat. These will usually be marked with 96% lean or better on the front of the package but you can turn the package over to look at the nutrition information to be sure. The % leanness listed on the front is by weight instead of by calories. If fat calories are not listed for you, multiply the # fat grams by 9 to get the calories from fat.
